CREST Activities - Introduction

To help the EPA and Regional Board meet legal mandated deadlines for the TMDLs in the Los Angeles Basin, the scope of the CREST Program is focused initially on the development of Bacteria TMDLs for the Los Angeles River and Estuary and for the Ballona Creek and its Estuary. A Work Plan has been developed which is organized around Tasks and Projects to establish the TMDLs for each of these water resources. Future projects may be considered if stakeholders demonstrate success on bacteria TMDLs. The schedule contained in the Work Plan project completion of the Bacteria TMDLs for the Los Angeles River and Ballona Creek by 2009.
